Health and Wellness Programs in the Workplace
Every business is trying to remain competitive in a changing world economy, especially small business. We all face the same challenges keeping employees motivated, healthy and on the job. Large corporations have used Wellness Programs to reduce health care cost, improve employee health and improve productivity for years. Researchers from Harvard University recently concluded medical costs fall by roughly $3.27 for every dollar spent on wellness programs and absenteeism costs fall by $2.73 for every dollar spent.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Oakland County officials were able to reduce health care costs in 2008 and 2009 by 12% thanks due to the OakFit Wellness programming. Before the program began, the county projected health care insurance costs of $50 million for its 3,500 active employees. Instead, the county paid only $38 million thanks to health surveys, risk assessments, blood pressure screenings, glucose tests and nutrition and exercise classes.
Small businesses can now experience the benefits of a healthy workforce and reduced health care costs thanks to affordable Wellness Programming from Starting Line Health & Fitness.
