1. How long have you been a client with SLHF?
Since the gym opened, in fact, my family has been working out with Chip for about 10 years.
2. What do you look forward to the most when coming to class?
First, I know it will always be challenging and that I will get an awesome full-body workout. The trainers are constantly introducing new exercises and complexes, giving direction on form and effort, and offering alternatives for this old sore body when something is painful.
3. What has been the most rewarding part of your SLHF experience?
One of the best and most unique things about SLHF is attending bootcamp around the holidays (and Burn the Bird!) and seeing all the student-athletes that come back from college to workout. Many of them I’ve known for years and its great to see them grow up, and more importantly maintain and enhance their fitness levels. No doubt a result of the gym’s influence. It’s also great to see the parents that end up returning to physical activity after some time away from the gym as a result of their kids attending sessions at SLHF.
4. What keeps you going/motivated?
I just feel better when I’m working out regularly. Also, knowing that you have an intense, difficult workout ahead of you helps you make better choices about your diet and hydration levels.
5. What has been the hardest part of this journey?
Making time for the gym and balancing with all the other demands that come with a busy life.
6. What has been your favorite exercise and why?
I love the sled push. Not sure why, because your legs feel like rubber when you’re done, especially if you do it late in the workout – and more importantly if you are working out with Barry Jennings. He puts every plate in the gym on the sled!
Don’t be discouraged at the beginning or worry about competing with others in the gym. These are tough workouts, but they are the best workouts. You won’t get this going to some other gym on your own. The most important thing is to just keep coming back and continue to give your best effort!
