Client Spotlight

1. How long have you been a client with SLHF?

Just shy of a year.

2. What do you look forward to the most when coming to class?

I know I’m going to get a great workout and set the tone for the rest of my day. I love that the workouts are always different, so I never get bored, and I always enjoy seeing the coaches and the other regulars.

3. What has been the most rewarding part of your SLHF experience?

I feel so much better since discovering Starting Line! As a former college athlete, I knew how to stay fit, but I struggled to plan and execute tough workouts by myself. That’s why I love working with the Starting Line coaches, who plan everything for us! My first couple weeks of LYFT classes were a nice little slap in the face, but over time I’ve gained strength and endurance, and I feel more like my old, athletic self again.

4. What keeps you going/motivated?

Although my college volleyball career ended a few years ago, I still play regularly, and I know that these workouts will help keep me playing as long as possible.

5. What has been the hardest part of this journey?

I’m a grad student in biology, so my life revolves around school. Most of the time I can balance school and working out, but occasionally experiments take priority, and I have to miss LYFT classes. Whenever that happens, I just try to squeeze in quick workouts or make sure I make it back to class as soon as possible!

6. What has been your favorite exercise and why?

That’s like asking me to pick my favorite Harry Potter book – I can’t choose! I will say, though, I love interval days.

7. What advice can you offer others looking to start?

Don’t worry about what your fitness level is now. Starting Line accommodates everyone, and there’s no need to be self-conscious. Also, be patient – it can take a while to adjust your daily routine, but it will be well worth it!
