Client Spotlight - Jeff Motala 

 

1. How long have you been a client with SLHF?

 

­­­­­­­­­­I’ve been coming to SLHF on and off for a few years.  I couldn’t get a good routine until recently, due to extensive work related travel, but have finally been consistent at 3 to 4 times per week for the last 18 months or so..

 

2. What do you look forward to the most when coming to class?

 

I really enjoy the family atmosphere at SLHF, it is simply a fun place to come and the daily workouts are outstanding.  All the trainers are exceptional and the clientele are super welcoming and supportive.

 

3. What has been the most rewarding part of your SLHF experience? 

 

Seeing and feeling the physical improvements I’ve made over the last year.  I’ve lost over 40lbs, my pant size dropped from 38 to being very comfortable in 34’s, and I can do pull-ups again… that’s just cool.

 

4. What keeps you going/motivated? 

 

There’s simply more I want to be able to do, I’m not quite physically where I want to be yet but I see progress every week… and of course it’s not a competition, but if your next to me on the rowing machine you might catch me looking over and pushing myself to match, or pass, your pace…

 

5. What has been the hardest part of this journey? 

 

Fighting off age, ok you can’t actually do that, but the aches and pains certainly take a bit longer to heal as I get older.  I had surgery last year on my Achilles tendon and the recovery seemed to take a long time; however, every time I came to SLHF all the trainers worked with me to modify or offer other exercises as I recovered.  It’s that personal touch that I really appreciate and makes it such an enjoyable place to work out.

 

6. What has been your favorite exercise and why? 

 

I don’t have a favorite exercise but the program is what I like the most, the variety each day makes it interesting and forces me to do things I wouldn’t usually do… I hate legs so squats, lunges, box jumps, and more lunges… but I feel great when I’m done and I feel stronger as a result, so I know it’s working..

 

7. What advice can you offer others looking to start?

 

Just come out and give it a try, all are welcome and you will enjoy the experience… start slow, do what you can, and progress over time, the results speak for themselves.
